Fantastische opening Decos meteoriet
Wubbo Ockels and Laurens Jan Brinkhorst at the opening of the Decos meteorite
Tuesday 21 June saw the opening of the futuristic new head office of Decos. Sustainable Technology Professor Wubbo Ockels and leading politician Laurens Jan Brinkhorst – just like the other 300 guests – were hugely impressed with the futuristic design of the Decos meteorite and the company's sustainable working methods. The captivating performance by Jennifer Ewbank when a genuine meteorite was unveiled helped make the day an enormously inspiring event.
Paul Veger, CEO and founder of the Decos Technology Group, today welcomed more than 300 guests to the Decos meteorite, his new head office on the Space Business Park.
In an inspiring program, with speakers Wubbo Ockels and Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, he explained his vision of sustainable enterprise and the future. “I am delighted to see so many of you here today, to share my dream of using the planet's resources sustainably by means of our innovations.”
A corporate philosophy which ties in closely with the vision of Wubbo Ockels: “When I arrived here yesterday, I still wasn't quite sure what I wanted to say to you all today. As soon as I spoke with Paul and experienced the building for myself, I was totally energized by this unusual way of doing business.” Laurens Jan Brinkhorst was also very enthusiastic about this unique premises: “As soon as I stepped through the door, this unusual building made me very happy, not something which happens very often in the Netherlands these days.”
Sustainable enterprise
Wubbo Ockels outlines the perspective: “If you look at the earth from outer space, we seem very insignificant, but as we have the only liveable planet, this makes us highly significant all by itself. It also makes us realize that we have to be very careful with the planet's resources. I am pleased that a company like Decos has taken the step of building sustainable premises, and is contributing to the sustainability of the planet by working in a paperless way.”
The Noordwijk Space Business Park, where the futuristic Decos office is located, only houses businesses which are involved in space technology. By combining their knowledge and expertise, the companies on the business park can strengthen one another and develop solutions together. This initiative is warmly welcomed by Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, who in his advisory role at ESA ESTEC is not particularly happy with the attitude of the Dutch government towards space technology: “In the past, significant investments were made in space technology, and now all these efforts are coming to nothing because of cutbacks. For this reason, it is good that the Space Business Park is building up a space technology community and that Decos is bringing applications from space technology to the people for the New Way of Working.”
At 13.44 hours precisely – when the sun had reached its highest point on the longest day of the year – a meteorite which was 4.5 billion years old was unveiled by Wubbo, Laurens Jan and Paul Veger. Immediately afterwards, two sister meteorites were also unveiled in Space Expo Noordwijk and at the Decos office in India, giving concrete form to the Decos vision that we are always connected with one another, wherever we are.
Mr Veger hopes that his company will serve as an inspiring example for organizations wishing to do business in a paperless and sustainable way. The Decos solutions in the areas of document management and fleet management are helping entrepreneurs make the switch to the New Way of Working.
