The new way of working

The new way of working – independently of time and place – is very natural at Decos, as we use our own technology. All the administration is online, so there are hardly any cabinets in the office. This ensures that Decos consumes considerably less paper than many other organizations.

Most of the workstations are flexible workstations where employees can log in with their laptops. We have meetings via MSN or video conferences and have flexible working hours. “Employees who work together also need to be able to see one another and meet face to face,” says founder and director Paul Veger.

“This company is characterized by mutual trust and openness, and this is reflected in the transparent interior with its glass walls, open stairs and central coffee corner. Staff schedules (including those of the management) are open to everyone, which means that people are always approachable, no matter who they are. If you don't want to be disturbed, you can simply work at home or in the quiet room. This makes the office a meeting point for employees who come and go as they please. In this way, I try to give my people the space to develop their talents and to grow.”

Working at home has really become part of the Decos culture, as all the work documents are always available via the online environment. This means that Decos employees on the other side of the country – just like their colleagues on the other side of the world – can easily work at a distance, and keeps travel time to a minimum.
