Senior Firmware Developer (Canada)

Required Skills:

  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in firmware development with demonstrated proficiency and proven experience in C/C++ targeting multiple CPU families including ARM7/9, Cortex M3/M4, Strong ARM, Linux and MSP430, or DSP processors
  • Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, I2S, UART/USART, USB, RS232
  • Experience in working on Network protocols like UDP, TCP/IP, FTP, Ethernet / Wifi, Bluetooth, Telnet, SNMP, HTTP
  • Ability to understand and read hardware schematics
  • Experience on IEC62304, ISO13485, ISO14971
  • Experience on doing Root Cause Analysis for failures
  • Excellent reasoning, analytical and debugging skills
  • Working with signal analyzer and oscilloscope
  • Understanding of sampling frequency and bit resolution
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Positive attitude towards learning/challenges/team/etc
  • Experience of working with distributed agile teams in offshore/onsite model
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM)

Job Duties:

  • Analyze and extract system requirements and generate System Requirements Specifications.
  • Deliver medical device design documentation compliant with FDA design controls and good documentation practices.
  • Support creation of Software / Firmware / Hardware Requirements Specifications including traceability to System Requirements.
  • Design electronic systems, products, software, and components for medical applications.
  • Create testing procedures and maintenance for electronic equipment and components.
  • Recommend code and memory optimizations as required.
  • Inspect electronic systems, instruments, equipment and software to ensure they meet applicable regulations and safety standards.
  • Support System Test Specifications and traceability to requirements.
  • Comply to process requirements and meet standards.
  • Investigate and resolve corrective and preventative actions using appropriate problem-solving techniques (DMAIC, FMEA, Ishikawa, etc.).
  • Collaboration and coordination with the customer team on a day-to-day basis.
