Senior Mechanical Engineer- Injection Molding

Must have Technical competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with strong Mechanical Engineering aptitude.
  • 5+ years of relevant medical device new product development or sustainment experience.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully designing and releasing several on-market injection-molded components or devices. Preferably in Plastic Injection.
  • Demonstrated ability to author and review tolerance stack-up analysis reports using known techniques such as RSS and Monte-Carlo simulations.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis on raw data for example using Minitab software
  • Ability to create, interpret, and revise 3D CAD and GD&T drawings.
  • Strong experience working with risk documentation (DFMEA/PFMEA), CAPA processes, and applying root cause investigation techniques.
  • Static and/or dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expertise.
  • Moldflow or SigmaSoft experience.

Technical Requirements (Good to Have):

  • Advanced Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Working knowledge of medical device QMS (ex: ISO 13485 and/or ISO 14971), product safety standards (ex: IEC 60601-1)
  • Demonstrated ability to author, review, and execute engineering studies, characterization assessments, and verification test protocols/reports based on product specifications and lower-level requirements.

    Soft Skills (Must Have):
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities capable of effectively working at multiple levels within a global, culturally-diverse, cross-functional organization.
  • Highly developed project management skills/experience including:
    o Multi-tasking and prioritization
    o Project schedule/resource planning and tracking (MS Project experience preferred)
    o Meeting deadlines in timely manner
    o Providing leadership regular and pertinent status update


  • Review high level user/project requirements and help cascade them to into verifiable mechanical product requirements.
  • Design and Develop mechanical components and assemblies satisfying design/product requirements. This may include, but not limited to, fabricated metal components, plastic injection product enclosures and electromechanical interfaces as needed.
  • Work with purchasing to manage BOM COGS targets throughout the development process and provide input into make/buy decisions.
  • Support engineering prototype builds and resolution of assembly/testing issues throughout product development builds.
  • Initiate, promote, and manage engineering change notices and document engineering justification (i.e. rationale) supporting the change.
  • Perform initial feasibility (analysis, fit, form, function, cost, lead-time) for OTS component selection and provide input into the qualification plan.
  • Support product safety certification process (ex: IEC 60601-1) and human factors engineering
