We discussed how cloud infrastructure, enhanced by the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), improves patient care and operational efficiency. It underscores the importance of selecting the appropriate cloud service model (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) based on healthcare providers' needs, expertise, and regulatory compliance. Crucial factors like choosing the right service provider, ensuring secure data transfer between IoMT devices and the cloud, and implementing robust disaster recovery and data security measures were highlighted. Furthermore, the webinar emphasized the need for effective user training and support to leverage these technologies fully.

The focus was also on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on healthcare, particularly in medical imaging and diagnostics.

AI is lauded for its accuracy, consistency, and efficiency, which significantly reduce the time from screening to diagnosis. The technology is also praised for expanding access to quality healthcare, improving equity, and supporting healthcare professionals in clinical decision-making. Specific benefits include early intervention and patient education, with an innovative AI application outlined for the early detection and management of Diabetic Retinopathy via retinal scans and analysis.

In this webinar we also covered blockchain technology's potential to revolutionize the management of electronic health records (EHRs). Blockchain is described as a secure, immutable digital ledger that promotes transparent and tamper-proof record-keeping, enhancing the trustworthiness of medical records. It facilitates interoperability, enabling seamless access to medical histories across different healthcare providers, which streamlines patient care. Additionally, blockchain empowers patients by granting them control over their health data privacy and consent.

In conclusion, these technological advancements—cloud computing, AI, and blockchain—as instrumental in creating a healthcare system that is not only more efficient and secure but also more patient-centred. Webinar highlights the need for continued dialogue and collaboration in harnessing these technologies for the betterment of healthcare outcomes.
